Tune Tempest began with a simple idea: to create a place for people who want to do more than simply listen to music.
Music has always been about more than the few minutes between pressing play and the final note. There are the stories behind the records, the people who made them, the circumstances in which they were created and the countless ways an album can take on a different meaning as the years pass.
Tune Tempest was created to explore all of that.

Today, Tune Tempest is supported by a small group of writers and contributors, each bringing their own musical interests, perspectives and areas of knowledge to the site.
That variety is an important part of Tune Tempest. Music is inherently subjective, and we don't believe there should be a single definitive way to interpret an album, artist or genre. Different writers notice different things, champion different records and sometimes reach very different conclusions — and that's part of what makes writing about music interesting.
What connects everyone who contributes to Tune Tempest is a genuine enthusiasm for discovering, discussing and sharing music.

Jacob
A record collector and music enthusiast with a particular love for progressive and art rock. Jacob enjoys exploring the more ambitious, experimental and unusual sides of popular music, writing across album reviews, artist deep dives, music history and the culture surrounding physical music.
Kate
Drawn to the imaginative and theatrical side of music, Kate has a particular passion for dream pop and art pop. Her writing explores artists and albums that push beyond conventional songwriting, with an interest in atmosphere, experimentation and the creative ideas behind the music.
Maia
With a passion for metal and hard rock, Maia gravitates towards powerful riffs, heavy sounds and the artists who helped shape heavier music. Her writing explores landmark records, influential bands and the evolution of rock and metal across the decades.
